Mayor Cory Booker says: Newark is Ready for "audacious green agenda"
Newark's Green Future Summit, held from Sept. 12-13, brought together local community, business, labor, workforce development, and government leaders to, in the words of Mayor Cory Booker, "begin an audacious green agenda" that creates green-collar jobs for residents, positively impacts community health, enhances public infrastructure, and increases opportunities for future generations. The two-day summit, which was free and open to the public, highlighted existing Newark sustainability initiatives and programs, presented best practices, and offered an opportunity for participatory dialogue to chart priorities and next steps.

Participants visited the Ironbound neighborhood in Newark's East Ward to learn about plans for restoring the riverfront that will provide greater access to community green space.
Participants visited Brick City Urban Farms in Newark's Lincoln Park community. Brick City Urban Farms is producing high-quality, locally-grown produce on fornerly unused or neglected land in Newark that is affordable and accessible to Newarkers.
