NEW VIDEO Challenges Newt's phony "solutions"

Our new video challenges Newt Gingrich's drill, drill, drill "solution", and presents the Green Jobs Now alternative: lower gas and energy prices, more American jobs, and a healthier planet.

"Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" is a cute slogan, but it's based on lies.  The polluters are using high gas prices to trick people into letting them drill more, burn more and profit more. But we know that throwing away the beauty of our coastlines for drilling won't affect gas prices for 20 years. And 20 years from now? Offshore drilling is projected to only lower the price of fuel a measly 1.3 percent.

Compare that to our plan: increasing the supply of clean energy through wind and solar, and decreasing the demand for dirty energy by using plug-in hybrid cars in a clean energy grid.  Remember Economics 101?  The law of supply and demand dictates that increasing supply and decreasing demand will bring prices down.  And you don't need to buy a hybrid to reap the benefits: fewer people guzzling gas overall  will give even the Hummer drivers lower prices at the pump.

The same is true not only for cars, but for homes.  If we weatherize or put solar panels on a million homes, overall demand will decrease, lowering prices even for those who make no home improvements.

Finally, building a clean energy infrastructure in this country is gonna take work.  We can create millions of good jobs, putting this country back to work in green collar jobs that can't be shipped overseas.  A new report shows that green investment will lead to 2 million jobs in the next 2 years.

The next President and Congress will have to make a choice between Newt's lies, and investing in a new green economy, strong enough to Repower America and lift millions of people out of poverty.

This Saturday, September 27th, show them whose side you are on.

Wow!

Drill Here Drill Now

I am on Newt's side.

Newt is the man

We need to drill, drill and drill more. The current nonsense from the nancy p and her lackies in the democratic congress is a pathetic sham. We need to drill all the offshore, not some nonsense about 50 miles out. We need to share revenue with states to provide the incentives necessary and fair. I'm with Newt, we need more energy, not less. It's funny what a bunch of stupid nimby's liberals are when it comes to energy. All they cry about is renewables. Hah, just try to put up windmill towers and they scream about sound, view and light flutter. Drill for oil and they scream about the poor seals and birds. I guess they just want to plug in their ipods and pretend energy comes from the electric light socket fairy. They want to gas their cars with petro that comes from our loving muslim brothers that will gladly slit our infidel throats while lifting our wallets. Nukes? Gosh, no nukes. They are bad, bad, bad. No energy? Good, good, good. Liberal energy policy = sit in the dark and starve.

"Newt is the Man"??? What?

"I guess they just want to plug in their ipods and pretend energy comes from the electric light socket fairy."

Um, actually, there is an "electric light socket fairy." It's called the SUN.

You know, there are so many other flaws I could point out in what you've said, but suffice it to say that you clearly are incapable of reading.

No wonder our country has suffered at the hands of your ilk for 8 years.

McCain?

Why doesn't this say McCain instead of Newt???

I like Patrick better than Newt

We can all take sides and have our own reasons for doing so. All I have been hearing for years now is this right wing vs. left wing banter. You seem to be either one or the other according to the talk show goofs and pundits, no room for middle ground, no room for compromise or common sense. Yes we live in the land of extremes.

Anyway. I happen to think that a change towards a greener future is a the right approach. There are and have been many things standing in the way of this progress like money and those in power not wanting to give it up, fear of change, lack of subsidizing as is done with fossil fuels, higher initial investment cost, lack of political leadership in really backing these technologies etc.
Hell, do you know how much the gov't has spent researching clean coal over the years? Tell me Mr. Newt supporter how many clean coal fired power plants do you see? If they'd only spent that money on researching clean energy technologies we'd be further along already, but that goes back to the money/those in power thing. I can go on and on but it's up for you to educate yourselves and decide where you stand on these matters.
