GREEN VILLAGE BUILDING NOW Rally for GREEN JOBS NOW

 

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Calling for a transition to a clean energy economy that will create millions of new jobs and pathways out of poverty, Blacks In Green will participate in the “Green Jobs Now” National Day of Action on Saturday, September 27th. Green Village Building Now will be held at Our Lady of the Gardens School, 13300 S. Langley Blvd. At this event, organized by Naomi Davis and others, attendees will be encouraged to sign petitions, help Little Black Pearl Art & Design Center to paint a mural, take photos with tools to show that they are ready for an inclusive Green Economy and raise their voices to urge elected officials to invest in millions of green jobs and a Clean Energy Corps to repower America.

 

WHO: Blacks In Green (BIG), a global green practices collective in Chicago’s 9th ward, will host families, educators, religious leaders, legislators, developers, general contractors, planners, trade unionists, laborers, architects, designers, members of the Riverdale community, Cook County Southland, and environmentalists from across the region!

 

WHAT: “Green Village Building Now,” an event for “Green Jobs Now” National Day of Action.

 

WHEN: Saturday, September 27th, 2008, Noon-3pm

 

WHERE: Our Lady of the Gardens School, 13300 S. Langley Blvd. @ Altgeld Gardens Public Housing.
