Privacy policy for the Green Jobs Now: National Day of Action to Build the New Economy
This website, www.greenjobsnow.com (the “Site”), which is a campaign dedicated to creating a green economy, is operated by Green For All, 1Sky, and The We Campaign which, for the purposes of this privacy policy, should be considered entities who will store and use your information (collectively “The Campaign”). We value your privacy and have established this policy to make clear how and when we use your information. If AT ANY TIME you would like to unsubscribe, you may do so by clicking here, and completing the form.
The Site is currently directed to users in the United States only, and users should be aware that all information is stored on servers located in the United States.
Please review this privacy policy periodically because we modify it from time to time. This privacy policy was last revised on August 20, 2008.
Each time you visit this Site or provide us with information through the Site, by doing so you are accepting practices described in the privacy policy in effect at that time. You are also accepting our specific rules or terms of use which may be posted on specific sections of the Site, including areas for making donations, volunteering to host events, attending hosted events, signing up for information updates, signing letters (or petitions), or sending emails, and taking part in our campaigns, generally. Each campaign may also have specific guidelines that may be accessed from the landing page of a specific campaign.
We commit to informing you about how we handle and protect your personal information. This privacy policy applies to transactions and activities in which you engage, and data gathered only on the Site. This privacy policy does not apply to any other website or any offline contact between The Campaign and any other entity or offline contact between you and The Campaign.
We will do our best to respect your time and attention. Much of the site can be viewed without revealing personally identifiable information to us. If you sign up on our KEEP ME UPDATED, HOST AN EVENT, or FIND AN EVENT pages, then you have opted in to receive email correspondence from The Campaign or our affiliated websites. The Campaign reserves the right to use your personally identifiable information for action requests, solicitations, or information alerts. In each email you receive, you will be told why you are receiving the email and how the sending party received your name. The Campaign makes commercially reasonable efforts to ensure that your information is safeguarded by our affiliated websites. You will also have the option to opt out of and remove yourself from our mailing list at any time. To do so, use the relevant link in the email messages we send to you, or let us know here. If you were referred to this website from an outside party, we reserve the right to share your information with that referring party. We make commercially reasonable efforts to not share your information with any other organization or company without your explicit permission. The Campaign does, however, reserve the right to change this policy as necessary to support the campaign; this privacy policy statement will always remain updated.
Surveys or Petitions. For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed on our Site, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information - for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President, legislators, or other U.S. elected officials. But in no such case will we disclose your street address, email address or phone number, without your written permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city, state, and country, available to the press and public online. The Campaign reserves the right to use your personally identifiable information, provided during the petition signing process, for action requests, solicitations, or information alerts.
Sending Emails Via The Site. In certain cases, like when you host an event, we enable you to send individual e-mails to people who have signed up to attend your event. In such a case, your name will be disclosed to the recipient, by way of a secure communication tool (“email tool”), through our Site. Event hosts will not receive the personal email addresses or other personal information of event participants. If you add a message to this email, you are solely responsible for the specific message(s) you send using our email tool.
Sending Emails On Your Own: We encourage you to voluntarily share your email address with members of The Campaign. If you do, however, you should be aware that The Campaign does not guarantee the privacy of that information. Accordingly, you share your email address and other personal information at your own risk. If you have obtained an email address from this Site and wish to contact another person, please use your company manners and contact them only for the purposes outlined on the Site. Sorry, but if we discover that you are using third party information for another purpose that, in our opinion, does not support the goals of The Campaign, we reserve the right to terminate your membership with the Site.
Financial Donations. If you choose to make a donation on the www.greenjobsnow.com website, your credit card information will be used only for this transaction through our secure online payment system. The Campaign does not retain your credit card information. The Campaign is comprised of not-for-profit public interest organizations.
Phone Campaigns. From time to time, The Campaign staff and volunteers conduct campaigns using the telephone. If you have provided your telephone number to us for a specific campaign, then you may be contacted by one of our staff or volunteer members. If you would like to be removed permanently from our phone list, please let us know here. Please allow 8-10 days for your information to be removed.
Children. This site is intended for adults who are the age of majority in their state. The Campaign does not solicit personally identifying information from children and is not aware of children on this Site.
Cookies and Data Tracking. Like most websites, when you access the www.greenjobsnow.com site, we may place a "cookie," or small file, in the browser files of a visitor's computer. We use cookies to save information you give us so that you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site. This allows us to personalize the site to your taste and provide the best web experience possible to our visitors. If you wish to disable these cookies, the help portion of the tool bar on most browsers will tell you how do that. If you set your browser to disable cookies, however, you may not be able to access certain parts of this Site.
In order to better serve our members, we periodically analyze web logs. This helps us understand traffic patterns and know if there are problems with our website. We may also use embedded images in emails to track open rates for our mailings, so that we can tell which mailings appeal most to The Campaign members. We do not disclose data about individual members' behavior to any other organization.
URLs contained in emails may contain an id that enables us to correctly identify the person who takes an action using a web page. We use these URLs to simplify the process of signing petitions and filling out surveys. We may occasionally present a shortened URL that references a longer URL that contains an id—we do this to simplify the display, to prevent links from becoming broken when copied, and to ensure compatibility with email programs that do not handle long URLs. When a shortened URL is displayed in an email, you will see the full URL in the browser's address bar when you access the page.
Links to Other Websites. The Campaign provides links to third party web sites, and other web sites may provide links to the Site. Third party web sites operate according to their own terms of use and privacy policies. The Campaign has no control over such third party web sites, and by using this Site, you acknowledge and agree that The Campaign is not responsible for the availability of such third party sites, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such sites. You further acknowledge and agree that The Campaign will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites.
